How to Setup Unlimited WordPress Websites and Avoid Common First Time Mistakes. (Updated 2024)

Introduction

Tired of making the same mistakes with hosting and domains? I’ve been there. In this guide, I’ll teach you how to set up unlimited WordPress websites, drawing from lessons I learned the hard way.

Step 1: Buy a Domain

Use NameCheap.com — It offers free privacy protection, unlike GoDaddy, which doubles the price and charges for privacy.

Step 2: Buy Hosting

  • HostHavoc.com offers unlimited everything for just $70 a year. Skip WordPress.com’s free plan—you can’t install plugins.
  • Plans on other hosts can cost up to $45/month, but I’ll show you how to get it done for less than $7/month.

Step 3: Set Up Your Domain

  • After purchasing, check your email for your hosting’s nameservers (Name Server 1 & 2).

Step 4: Change Nameservers

  • Log into NameCheap, find the “Manage” button for your domain, and update the nameservers with the ones provided by your hosting.

Find the server so you click on manage

and change your name servers (from step #3)

Step 5 So here’s the tricky part

Log into cPanel from your hosting dashboard.

If you want to add more websites, go to the cPanel’s search bar, create a new domain, and uncheck “share document root.” Click submit.

Now if you want to add unlimited websites or more domains, you are going to go and search

then create a new domain then enter the domain that you’ve purchased

uncheck the “share document root” checkbox

then leave the subdomain area as it is then click submit

Step 6: Install SSL Certificate

  • In cPanel, search for “SSL/TLS Status” and enable AutoSSL for your domain.

This may take up to 48 hours for the SSL to properly connect.

Why take that long??

It’s trying to add the SSL but not yet fully understanding that your domain is pointing to the hosting yet, might say fail or not ready yet

Troubleshooting: If it fails, wait six hours and check again in incognito mode by viewing your domain’s lock symbol.

Step #7 Whew! Finally we’re here!

Install wordpress

In cPanel, select “WordPress Manager” and click install.

then go ahead and click install

Yellow : choose your domain from the installation URl

Delete wp and the Directory

Put your Site information and the description in the site settings and the username too

Red: Delete admin as username (not good for security due to hackers online)

Choose and generate a passcode and enter your email then click install

There you have it!
